Description

Successful grant writing is like making a great dish. You need the right ingredients, assembled well, and, of course, a great presentation! More than filling out an application, grant writing is sharing the “business plan” of your program with a potential funder. This course will offer tips for success in all the phases of grant writing and the funding cycle, including one of the most important, and often forgotten, steps – planning!
The course will address key elements of the Pre-writing phase:
  1. Involving your team in the planning process
  2. Aligning the grant application with your strategic plan
And will provide tips for success in each of these key areas of proposal writing:
  1. Need – The problem/opportunity
  2. Solution – How your program will address the problem/opportunity
  3. Program budget
  4. Your team’s qualifications to deliver the program
  5. Collaboration
  6. Timeline
  7. Desired outcome/s – measurement/evaluation
  8. Sustainability
  9. Donor stewardship
  10. Reporting – actual outcomes

The course offers you a practical “taste” of real-world grant writing scenarios and will feature several interactive breakout exercises for participants to learn from others’ experiences. Participants are encouraged to complete a pre-event survey that will be sent upon registration on problem areas of grant writing.
