Thank you for nominating a deserving organization or individual whose philanthropic investments in the Triangle make it the best place to live, work, and play. AFP Triangle looks forward to celebrating our communities’ important philanthropic contributions at the National Philanthropy Day event.
The 2023 celebration will take place on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Embassy Suites by Hilton Raleigh Durham Airport Brier Creek, 8001 Arco Corporate Drive, Raleigh NC 27617).
Guidelines for Submitting Nominations
1. Nominations for all award categories are open to the public except for the Outstanding Fundraising Professional award, which is open only to nominees who are current members of AFP Triangle. Nominations will be evaluated, and winners selected by a committee of AFP Triangle past presidents, and finally by a committee of for-profit and not-for-profit community leaders.
2. Procedures and Deadlines:
- The deadline for nominations is midnight, Saturday, September 30, 2023. Submissions must use the linked format (below) and late entries cannot be accepted.
- A selected group AFP Triangle members will convene in October to identify three (3) candidates in each category for recommendation to the Community Partners Committee.
- The Community Partners Committee will convene in late October to identify winners in each category.
- All nominators will be informed in advance of the event of the final outcomes and asked to notify their nominees. Final outcomes will be kept private until the event.
3. All nominations MUST be submitted using the forms available on the AFP-Triangle Chapter website.
4. All nominations MUST address all the criteria set out for each award. Narratives should contain complete, clear, and concise answers to the criteria.
5. Nominations will be judged on the responses to the criteria.
6. Incomplete nominations, or nominations that do not address all the criteria will not be considered.
7. Before nominating individuals, please confirm that they will accept the award if chosen, and that they will attend the reception on November 15, 2023. All nominees are welcome and encouraged to attend the event at no cost.

This year’s awards include:
- Outstanding Fundraiser of the Year: This award-recipient must be a current member of AFP Triangle and currently working as a fundraiser.
- Community Nonprofit Impact Award: This award recognizes the various ways in which philanthropy manifests in the Triangle community. The winning organization will be making a deep and important impact on the Triangle community and residents.
- Outstanding Young Philanthropist: This award recognizes an individual or group age(s) 21 or younger who is new to philanthropy and is working to make the Triangle the best place to live, work, and play.
- “The Ripple Award” (formerly the Outstanding Philanthropist Award): This award recognizes an individual, couple, or family that continues to make deep investments in the Triangle and is improving the overall quality of life for residents of the Triangle.
- Outstanding Corporate Philanthropist: This award recognizes for-profit organizations in the greater Triangle region that prioritize giving back to this community through donations, employee volunteering and/or other partnerships that enhance quality of life in the Triangle.
