The Special Forces Charitable Trust (SFCT), established in 2011, is dedicated to the sole proposition of taking care of Special Forces Soldiers (Green Berets) and their families and improving the quality of their lives while enhancing mission readiness. Its goal is to raise the funds necessary to financially and professionally support and sustain all programs that enrich the well-being, healthy living, and strong family bonds of a Green Beret force committed to keeping America safe.
SFCT seeks a proven philanthropic leader whose career has been highlighted by a successful track record in multi-discipline development areas inclusive of major gifts, special events, corporate sponsorships, grants, and other non-traditional and innovative strategies. She/he will be an exceptional communicator with the ability to learn about Special Forces. This leader has the ability to comfortably speak publicly, but just as nimbly meet one-on-one with the Special Forces Command, the families served, and donors and key stakeholders. This person will ask many questions and have a listening ear along with the ability to synthesize the information she/he receives into actionable items.
This individual will have had experience working alongside both volunteer and staff leaders and will understand the unique dynamics of those relationships. While serving as the organization’s subject matter expert in nonprofit management and development, this executive will also have the ability to be collegial and collaborative with the overall organization, with all staff members, and with volunteer leadership.
Essential to this position is a confident ability to inspire a board, staff, and donors to support the mission of SFCT. The Executive Director will have the ability to quickly gain a working knowledge of the Special Operations Community, the 1st Special Forces Command and the issues affecting their soldiers and their families.
Qualifications include a minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a nonprofit organization; a thorough understanding of 501(C)3 reporting requirements; experience working with a Board of Directors; demonstrated experience in fundraising; experience developing, managing and evaluating nonprofit programs; a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a business-related discipline; and demonstrated success in marketing, public relations, communications, and social media.
