Vice President of Development

The Board of Directors for Make-A-Wish® Eastern North Carolina (MAWENC)  is seeking for their new Vice President of Development.  The Board has retained Sterling Search, Inc. to recruit for this exciting opportunity.

Any child between the ages of 2½ and 18 who has a life-threatening medical condition may be eligible for a Wish, with a local Make-A-Wish® chapter serving every US community.  Each year, approximately 27,000 children in the United States are diagnosed with a condition that potentially qualifies them for a Wish.

The VP will lead a development team ready for executing significant growth in revenue.  100% of funds raised by MAWENC is for the children of Eastern North Carolina.  With lofty yet do-able goals, the new Vice President of Development will be charged with building on MAWENC’s track record of success by further developing the organization’s vision, and achieving its goals for continued financial stability, community engagement and enhancing the impact of its program.

The Vice President of Development reports directly to the CEO.  He/she is charged with building on MAWENC success, realizing the organization’s vision, and achieving its goals for continued Wish granting.  The VP of Development will work closely with the CEO, staff, Board of Directors, and other key volunteer leaders with an emphasis on Major Gifts.

This position is responsible for implementing and overseeing board fundraising initiatives, annual giving, major giving, planned giving, corporate and foundation relations, events, prospect research, and database management.  The VP of Development is also a spokesperson representing the organization to external constituencies. The scope of responsibilities include overseeing fund development, strategic planning and budgeting. The VP of Development will build, foster, and maintain a strong team culture that includes an emphasis on best business practices, fiscal accountability, and institutional impact.

Required:  Bachelor’s degree
