Vice President, Foundation
WakeMed Health and Hospitals, located in Raleigh, North Carolina, seeks an accomplished and dynamic fundraising executive to assume the Vice President, Foundation role. This presents an exciting opportunity to lead philanthropic efforts at a thriving community health system and advance ambitious care delivery goals for residents of Wake County and adjacent communities.
In this role, the Vice President (VP) will report directly to President/CEO Donald Gintzig and will lead all philanthropic endeavors supporting WakeMed Health and Hospitals (WakeMed). The VP will provide comprehensive strategic direction and operational leadership for philanthropy initiatives. This includes the creation, planning, coordination, and successful execution of initiatives in major gifts, grateful patient giving, planned giving, grants, and events. The individual will also lead a capital campaign focused on a new behavioral health hospital and a new acute care hospital.
WakeMed is searching for a passionate VP who understands the profound impact of philanthropy, especially in the context of community health systems like WakeMed. This role presents an exciting opportunity as WakeMed prepares to embark on a new chapter of service delivery, with the Foundation playing a pivotal role in raising funds to support these endeavors. The VP will collaborate closely with the dynamic CEO and the engaged Foundation board to foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization and among internal and external stakeholders.
In the selected candidate, WakeMed is seeking an energetic, well-connected, relationship-driven leader with a proven track record in leading capital campaigns from start to finish. The ideal candidate should also have experience in building development teams and volunteer leadership groups within a mission-driven setting. The VP should also be a collaborative, action-oriented professional who can effectively communicate and build lasting, strong, authentic relationships across the health system, within the communities WakeMed serves, and among many current and future supporters of the institution. In addition, the successful candidate will be politically and business savvy, bring new thinking, and inspire trust in others.
While healthcare philanthropy experience is preferred, individuals with diverse fundraising leadership backgrounds are encouraged to apply, provided they can contribute effectively to the organization’s mission. The successful candidate will possess at least a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years of fundraising experience, including major, planned, and annual giving. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience managing a team.
The salary range is between $220k – $260k, with participation in our executive bonus program.
