Gillings Advancement offers a variety of services to facilitate the School’s research, teaching, and service mission, promoting the development of public health policy, publicizing School activities and public health issues, and generating financial support from alumni, foundations, corporations, and the NC Legislature. The office also coordinates special events.

Position Description:
This position serves as the primary point of contact for the major gifts team in SPH Advancement. It interacts with high-level donors, the Associate Dean for Advancement, Major Gift Officers, university faculty, staff and students, and outside entities. It provides administrative support to the Associate Dean for Advancement and Major Gift Officers with their day-to-day fundraising activities, scheduling appointments, meetings, and making travel arrangements. This position maintains the Associate Dean’s daily calendar and serves as the primary administrative contact for the Associate Dean.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
This position works with highly confidential information and is in regular contact with donors and potential donors to the Gillings School of Global Public Health. The individual in this position must possess a high degree of discretion and exercise sound judgment. The ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and constantly changing priorities is essential. Urgent deadlines will often occur with the Associate Dean and Major Gifts Officers due to frequent travel. Exemplary customer service and time-management skills, as well as precise attention to detail, are required for this position. Candidates should possess strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and the ability to learn new systems and processes. Accuracy is crucial in all areas of this employee’s work.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Davie, Razor’s Edge, or Wealth Engine is preferred. Also preferred is experience maintaining multiple calendars and schedules.
Qualifications and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
