Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, Gillings School of Global Public Health
Department Description:
Gillings Advancement offers various services to facilitate the School’s research, teaching, and service mission, promoting the development of public health policy, publicizing School activities and public health issues, and generating financial support from alumni, foundations, corporations, and the NC Legislature. The office also coordinates special events.
Position Description:
The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations is a key member of an energetic team that supports the mission and priorities of the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and is instrumental in planning and implementing fundraising efforts. Core responsibilities include: spearheading corporate and foundation fundraising (both gifts and grants) for top School priorities and a wide range of initiatives related to innovation; collaborating with faculty, staff, and administrators to translate complex research and practice initiatives into compelling cases for corporate and foundation support; identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding foundation and corporate gifts and grants in the $100,000+ range. Works closely with the Gillings School’s research office and UNC research administration. The position reports to the Senior Director of Development, Gillings School of Global Public Health, and the Executive Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, Office of University Development.
The Director will maintain productive relationships and encourage collaboration with School divisions, centers, laboratories, and faculty, as well as identify new opportunities for commercial/School/EII interaction and collaboration.
This position will be considered a full member of both the University’s Central Corporate and Foundation Relations Office and the Gillings School of Global Public Health’s Advancement Office. Supervision and the annual performance review will be provided by the SPH Senior Director of Development in direct consultation with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Corporate and Foundation Relations and the University Development Office Executive Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with three years or greater of related professional experience; for candidates demonstrating comparable professional backgrounds, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and five years or greater of relevant experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
The applicant should have experience in cultivating donors, soliciting and closing gifts of $100,000 and above. The successful applicant will possess excellent written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to write, edit and present successful proposals and presentations; the ability to interact effectively in a comprehensive, research university setting; the ability to nurture relationships with faculty and administrators, volunteers, community and business leaders, numerous university offices, and potential foundation and corporate partners; ability to work as a part of a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and dynamic team.

Salary Range:
$102,100-$140,000
