Position Description:
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC-Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The Marketing Manager is responsible for providing strategic, forward-thinking marketing strategy, planning, and content creation in support of the Campaign for Carolina, the University’s largest-ever fundraising campaign, and the University’s overarching strategic goals and objectives. The Marketing Manager will demonstrate the ability to identify, implement, and evaluate marketing and communications strategies, content and programs directly related to UNC-Chapel Hill schools, units, and campaign initiatives. Tactics include branding, marketing, public relations, advertising, social media, promotion of events, and print and online communications.
As part of the development communications team, and reporting directly to the Senior Marketing Manager, this position is responsible for the planning, creation, and implementation of marketing content for campaign initiatives and affinity groups. The Marketing Manager will work directly with development and communications staff across the University to develop campaign communications plans and provide a portfolio of campaign materials. The Marketing Manager will work closely with development directors within the schools and units to define and craft individualized messages appropriate for each individual constituency.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Applicants should have a strong marketing and communications background, be able to synthesize data and information, analyze trends, identify opportunities, draw sound conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations to guide marketing strategy, marketing communications, and deliverables as well as organizational decision-making. A demonstrated knowledge of production and marketing calendars is critical. Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Word, and Excel is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred, plus 2 or more years of related experience in non-profit or higher ed. The ability to craft messaging and content are strongly preferred. Project management experience is ideal. WordPress knowledge is a plus.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
