Development Coordinator

Raleigh-based StepUp Ministry is an interfaith community that prepares people who are ready and willing to make positive changes in their lives to become stable.  Founded in 1988 by White Memorial Presbyterian Church, StepUp Ministry is a non-profit organization that annually helps over 600 individuals in Wake County to change their lives through employment training and placement, vocational training, and life skills development.

Situation

The Development Department currently consists of one full time Director; one full time Development Coordinator, one part time Marketing Coordinator, and one part-time Grant Writer.

Job Description

The StepUp Development Coordinator will work closely with the Development Director, Executive Director, Board Members, Staff, and Volunteers to develop and coordinate effective strategies to sustain current fundraising and create plans to raise new money for StepUp Ministry operations.

StepUp Ministry’s development program is composed of three functional areas: fund development; stewardship; and marketing/communications.

The Development Department is responsible for:

  • Meeting and building revenue requirements for the agency
  • Cultivating new donors and nurture existing relationships
  • Researching grants, foundations and businesses for future relationships
  • Fulfilling speaking engagements

The Development Coordinator will have direct responsibility for:

  • Data entry
  • Donor reports
  • Management of direct mail and annual peer fundraising campaign
  • Execution of donor recognition and stewardship activities
  • Annual Impact Luncheon
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience Requirements

The ideal candidate should have a cheerful disposition, enjoy customer service, like interacting with volunteers and the community, have a willingness to learn, and be solution-oriented.

As well as:

  • Minimum of a bachelor degree from an accredited college or university
  • Background and/or experience in nonprofit development and communications
  • Demonstrate professionalism in all aspects of work
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to set priorities, multi-task, and meet deadlines
  • Budgeting experience
  • Excellent computer and technical skills
  • Knowledge of Salesforce
  • Ability to adapt to flexible hours
