One of the benefits of belonging to the Triangle Chapter AFP is your eligibility to apply for and receive a scholarship to a number of chapter event and conferences. You’ve probably heard about our scholarships for the AFP International Conference, but you may not be aware of the other scholarship opportunities offered by the chapter.

International AFP Conference Scholarships

The Triangle Chapter of AFP will make 2 scholarships available to the International AFP Conference in addition to the Chamberlain scholarship. Each scholarship will include $510 for registration (valued at the early bird registration costs) to the conference and $500 for travel and related expenses. The Chamberlain Scholarship provided by AFP International is for a first time attendee to the conference who regularly attends monthly meetings and commits to serve on a committee in the future. The Chapter Scholarship may be awarded to any Chapter member.

  • Any member of the local chapter can apply for a scholarship. However, before applying, he/she should have written commitment by his/her supervisor or in some cases from the board of directors, that attendance is approved.
  • Applicant must submit a one-page summary to the AFP chapter of demonstrated need. Applicant must be active in the Triangle AFP chapter by regularly attending monthly meetings and commit to serving on a committee in the future.
  • •Application deadline is October 1st.

Local AFP Conference Scholarships

The Triangle Chapter of AFP will make 5 scholarships available annually to the local conference. These scholarships are valued at the early bird registration cost.

  • Any individual employed in a professional fundraising position in the Triangle can apply for a scholarship.
  • Applicants must submit a one-page summary to the AFP chapter office noting demonstrated need.
  • Applicant will be expected to complete an evaluation form on the conference and return it to the Triangle AFP chapter office.
  • Application deadline is July 1st.

AFP Membership Scholarships

The Triangle Chapter of AFP will make 2 scholarships available annually for membership in AFP at the appropriate membership level.

  • Applicants must be employed in fundraising and agree to attend monthly chapter meetings on a regular basis.
  • Applicants must submit a one-page summary to the AFP chapter office noting demonstrated need.
  • Individuals approved for a membership scholarship must serve on a chapter committee or the board.
  • Applications are accepted quarterly on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.

CFRE Certification Scholarship

One scholarship will be made available annually by the Triangle Chapter of AFP to cover costs related to the survey course or the exam. This scholarship will cover expenses up to $350.

  • Applicant must meet the experience requirements to be eligible for CFRE certification.
  • Applicant must submit a one-page summary to the AFP chapter office noting demonstrated need.
  • Individual must be active in the Triangle AFP chapter and attend meetings on a regular basis.
  • Applications will be accepted quarterly on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.
